Na'Azel-leth, commonly known as Azel, was once part of the "Old Forest Folk" a small clan of powerful warriors and druids of unknown origin. They shared the lands between Thessan and Ibyth with the Yupik'Yod after assisting Aragoth Hellslay's Coup d'etat of Norlund. Nearly their entire tribe was lost when a group of blue-cloaked cultists attacked, seeking an ancient herbalist's manual owned by the village healer. The manual was said to contain a page from the spellbook of Aragoth Hellslay. Azel, led the few dozen survivors, including his elderly uncle, his niece, and his infant cousin to a nearby Yupik'Yod settlement and, set out with his family's ancestral greatsword and mithril banded mail to seek revenge for his fallen clan.

He famously held his own against an army of gnolls, protecting the western wall of the Temple of Danu single-handedly. To reward his bravery, he was given a magical quiver by the priestesses of the temple. The quiver was a sacred relic, which irked one of his companions, the priestess Erin Greenwood.

During a stay at an inn in Harvestveil, Na'Azel-leth was psionically dominated by one of his companions, the Danasian mystic, Sandals. She disappeared shortly after his death, taking their resulting child with her.

After tracking down a lead on the blue-cloaked cult, Azel and his companions learned of an item called the Ring of Havar Del which was in the possession of a minotaur and could help them find the cult. Unfortunately, he was killed in combat by the Ringbearer and was unable to warn his companions about the blue-cloaked figure who would later purchase the ring from Jodando Legault . The temple of Danu offered a place of honor for this fallen warrior, and despite the destruction and rebuilding of the temple and the rededicated to Materan and the Empyrean Church, his body remained preserved in the atrium.

His adventures through the Helmstadt valley were eventually eclipsed by multiple battles with gnolls and he was all but forgotten by those outside the temple of Materan. Though his life was short and he never gained much notoriety of his own, some of his companions would become famous adventurers like St. Geshran the Temperate, Arco Vonovich, and Jodando Legault.

The temple and his tomb were abandoned a few centuries later and converted into a keep by a tribe of gnolls. It was ransacked by adventurers nearly 400 years after his death, and the Warblade of Azel was taken up by the half-elf barbarian, Yggritte of Yod.
