From a land far to the South of Findle. The people of Hul are an outwardly simple one, but have a very rich and complex social structure. They generally live spartan lives free of leisurely distractions and build few permanent major cities other than the regions capital city of Haiiar'ai, instead herding massive amounts of livestock and moving their simple residences with the seasons. Hulese culture values close family ties and extended families often live in large seasonal clay brick homes.

Description[]

Hulese are on average quite tall by human standards, rarely being shorter than 6 feet. They are often exceptionally well muscled and quick witted with a sense of humor and humility to match their physical stature. Most men adorn themselves with pale yellow tattoos derived from powdered bull horn to display kinship ties.

Society[]

Their major source of trade is with Olgun Quisir who provides them with everything they need in exchange for the wealth of lumber from the Musitu Murefu jungle not to mention the meat and leather their herds supply. Their cities and villages live communally and share the work and resources equally. Outside of these settlements, the Hulese people often travel in bands, groups of closely tied families, usually 50-150 individuals. They have no official leaders, though food, goods, and wealth distribution is overseen by local elders, often called a trade-patron or trade-matron. These positions are granted by common consensus by the people, hold no particular prestige or benefit, and only last as long as the people deem the person to be deserving.

The Hulese generally maintain a type of social cohesion through building respect, humiliation, and ridicule. They constantly belittle each others achievements, believing this will prevent any one person from becoming too prideful and attempting to order others. This is often seen as off-putting to other cultures who sometimes view the Hulese as brash or rude. The Hulese value quick wits as much as they do martial might and are constantly looking for new ways to test their mental and physical prowess, be it bull wrestling, gladiatorial combat or complex riddles.

Religion[]

Nearly all people in Hul are members of the Adu'walkaa Church. Hulese outside of Hul are most often members of the Empyrean Church.
